Mumbai-based civic-tech non-profit platform Civis.vote is looking for a Policy Communications intern to join their team. The organisation, which is built and maintained by the Civic Innovation Foundation, aims to bridge the gap between governments and citizens on India’s draft laws and policies, using technology to create a dialogue between the two.
As the Policy Communications intern, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating content in different formats that explain draft laws and policies open for public feedback on Civis’ platform, and encourage citizen participation in law-making. They will also collaborate on creating content and collaterals for research projects undertaken by team members, manage and grow the social media channels for Civis and allied campaigns, edit content created by team members and volunteers, develop an overall social media strategy and calendar, and track and evaluate the success of Civis’ allied campaigns.
Qualifications required for the position include being a final year student or recent graduate in law, public policy, social sciences, creative writing, communications, mass media or a related field, understanding prominent social media platforms and knowledge of tracking social media marketing analytics, and having experience in content creation and blogging. Candidates should also be fluent in English and have strong oral and written communication skills.
In addition to the base qualifications, Civis is looking for candidates who are passionate about citizen engagement, have worked in entrepreneurial environments that require independent decision-making, and have previous experience in working in policy organisations. Being located in Mumbai is also advantageous.
