About the Organization
The Department of Legal Affairs comes under the Ministry of Law and Justice. It advises Ministries on legal matters including interpretation of the Constitution and the laws, conveyancing, and engagement of counsel to appear on behalf of the Union of India in the High Courts and subordinate courts where the Union of India is a party. The Department of legal affairs administers the following Acts:-
(a) The Advocates Act, 1961
(b) The Notaries Act, 1952
(c) The Advocates’ Welfare Fund Act, 2001
About the Internship
Department of Legal Affairs (DoLA) organizes Internship Programme for young law students
for doing internship. The purpose of this Programme is to well acquaint young law students
with the working of Department of Legal Affairs by giving training in the field of research &
referencing work, tendering legal advice in various specialized fields of law such as
constitutional & administrative law, finance law, infrastructure law, economic law, labour law,
conveyancing, arbitration & contract law, etc.
Eligibility for internship
- 2nd & 3rd year of a three-year degree course
- 3rd to 5th year of five-year degree course
- Students who have completed their LLB course
Duration of Internship
The duration of the internship ordinarily remains for a period of one month.
Perks
- Certificate of Internship shall be awarded
- The interns may be given an honorarium of Rs.5000/- on completion of their internship
Mode of Internship
This is a full-time internship to be attended physically
Procedure of Application
The student willing to undergo internship program in the Department of Legal Affairs may fill
out his/her application along with relevant documents/ a No Objection Certificate from his/her
